The Centre for Comparative History and Politics at Perm State University, together with the Ukrainian Researchers Society, the Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography, and RWTH Aachen University invite qualified Ph.D./C. Sc. students to take part in the international spring school on urban governance, organized within the framework of the TRIPAR – Shifting Paradigms project funded by Volkswagen Foundation.
60 young men and 11 girls from China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Syria, Iraq, Senegal, Somali, Yemen, Algire and Morocco came to introduce themselves and learn a bit of Russian language and winter holidays. PSU International Department greeted newly arrived students with an impromptu Winter Holiday Contest. Following the show of a traditional Russian animation short “Masha and Medved’” the international students formed 3 teams – “Feyerverk” (Firework), “Yolochka” (Fur Tree) and “Snezhinka” (Snowflake) to perform joke tasks. The participants shared a great deal of holiday and sweet prizes.
On Friday 17 November our students from China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Senegal visited PSU press office where we discussed their impressions of the University. Tze, Yudha, An, Chi and Mamadu talked about their studies, academic interests, hobbies and spare time. Our guests supported the idea of an introductory video where foreign students try an unfamiliar cuisine at student canteens.
On 10 October a large group of foreign students enjoyed a tour to Khokhlovka – the open air Architectural and Ethnographic Museum, 40 minutes drive from Perm. The tour fits in the foreign students’ curriculum, providing a broader informal dive into Russian culture, language and history. 43 students from China, Great Britain, Netherlands and France joined for the tour supported by the PSU International Department.
In July PSU delegates participated a workshop on EU spin-off best practices. The workshop titled “University-Enterprise Cooperation via Spin-Off Companies Network” took place at the Polytechnic Institute of the City of Coimbra (Instituto Politecnico de Coimbra, Portugal).
Ceiling vaults in Adolf Hitler boot (Führerbunker) are under the threat of collapse. That is the conclusion drawn by PSU observation of stalactites in Führer's second headquarters in Obersalzberg, Bavarian Alps, Germany. The investigation has been made by Nikolai Maksimovich, professor at the Institute of Natural Sciences (PSU) and his colleague Natalia Beltyukova, researcher at the Geology Lab of Industrial Change (PSU).
The PSU Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology announced application for the MA Course "Digital Technologies in Socio-Cultural and Art Practices".
Perm University has started official partnership with Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus University of Technology). The agreement includes cooperation in six modes: faculty exchange; student exchange; mutual participation in research projects; mutual exchange of information, scientific documentation and publications; other types of academic exchanges formally recognized by both universities; thesis co-tutorship.
A foreign delegation from Worcester (UK) came to Perm to launch a mobility project between PSU and University of Worcester. The relationship lasting for 5 years allows Perm and Worcester citizens to gain mutual experience in social work and youth-oriented social projects, involving universities.
30 students from Oxford have come for a summer internship at PSU. Young scholars from one of the oldest universities in UK specialize in Chemistry, Biology and Geology.
Nine students from local higher institutions (Perm State National Research University, Perm National Research Polytechnic University, Perm State Institute of Culture) became delegates of the "Volga-Yangtze: Charming Anhui" IV Russian-Chinese Youth Forum.
Martin Fenner, the General consul of the United Kingdom in Ekaterinburg, invited the founders of the social project ‘West Fest’ and Perm State University Students, for a cup a tea, to discuss the existing stereotypes between Russia and Great Britain and the manner to overcome them.
