University of Worcester: Heading to New Ways of Interaction with Foreign Students

A foreign delegation from Worcester (UK) came to Perm to launch a mobility project between PSU and University of Worcester. The relationship lasting for 5 years allows Perm and Worcester citizens to gain mutual experience in social work and youth-oriented social projects, involving universities.

Perm and Worcester scholars had a chance to participate several summer schools. For the first time in the fall of 2017 two students of PSU will undergo a semester of studies at Worcester University. In 2018, five scholars from the Department of Social Work, PSU Faculty of Law are expected to pay a one week visit to Worcester.

"It would be interesting to create a joint media project with the participation of PSU interns: let's say they could conduct a bilingual blog about their impressions of studying," shared Ms. Catherine Hyde, Head of International Experience at University of Worcester. - Communication with foreign students pushes the boundaries of perception for the locals, opens new prospects for British youth. Numerous University clubs - sports and cultural - contribute to a more informal rewarding communication of students both on campus and beyond. "

Although the University of Worcester is younger than PSU, the share of foreign students is higher – making 9% out of total 11.000, and it will be increased. Also, the Worcester counterparts observe promising perspective for integrating the University into the urban environment, using the Library site - the only one in the UK that is administered both by the city and the University. "Firstly, we would like the Library to motivate local youth to enter the University. Secondly, we are looking for new ways of increasing communication between young people and elderly ones, supporting the latter, "emphasizes Ms Catherine Hyde.

Meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Development of the Perm Krai, the Committee for Social Policy of the Perm Territory, the Department of Culture and Youth Policy of the Perm Administration, and the Commissioner for the Rights of the Child in the Perm Krai were included in the program of the Worcester delegation to consolidate agreements reached in Perm.
