Modelling of Thermomechanical Behaviour of Materials, Structures, Natural and Technogeneous Objects in the context of Related Chemical and Physical Phenomena

Basic Divisions: Department of Continuum Mechanics and Computing Technologies, Laboratories of Thermomechanical Test Methods, Dynamic Test Methods, Aerodynamics.

Brief Description of Research Activities
Within this scientific field the methods and models describing the thermomechanical behaviour of new materials are developed and simulation of the deformation processes in natural and technogeneous objects subject to static and dynamic loads is carried out.

The models of thermomechanical behaviour of media serve as a basis for predicting the mechanical properties of materials during their preparation and calculating the strength, stability and vibrations of structure under operating conditions.

The models are constructed on the basis of experimental investigation of thermomechanical properties of materials carried out in the laboratories of the Department using modern testing equipment.

Advancement of the modeling and simulation techniques for solving thermomechanical problems involves the development of our own effective calculation schemes and algorithms that are either embedded in the widespread packages (ANSYS, ABAQUS, etc.) or brought up to independent software products, including those intended for multiprocessor systems.
