Intern students from the Oxford University took part in study of the karstic sinkhole

Intern students from Department of Earth Sciences of the Oxford University Ruth Amey, Gan Yuqian, and Bhavik Lodhia in cooperation with students of Perm State University took part in study of the karstic sinkhole occurred in Sarkaievo village in August, 2013. 

 

The results of geological engineering and geophysical investigations, led by Dean of Geological Faculty Sergey Blinov and associate professor of Department of exploration of mineral resources Oleg Kovin, allowed to determine the general characteristics of karstic processes at the area and to predict the potential of future hazards. The results of study will be presented in the scientific report and in joint article.
